IT'S a winner! The annual Dummer village treasure hunt took place on Saturday, July 16, and it was a great afternoon.

The weather was glorious and walking the footpaths searching for clues was a pleasure.

Competition was high and so were the results.

It is amazing how many times you can pass your neighbours' houses and never notice that duck in their window or the sun on their door sign.

There were children's clues as well. Do you know what colour Tinky Winky is? They did!

Spotting a dinosaur was essential as the younger members of the treasure hunters could not claim their own dinosaur if they failed to do so.

Three dinosaurs were to be seen in Dummer that day - they were almost as rare as the Scops owl.

There was the added temptation of some bags of sweets at various points, although the adults were more satisfied with Richard's innovative baguettes and cold beer at the Queen inn!

Fantastic prizes and a huge raffle made money to complete the village hall renovations.

Thanks again to Jane and Mike, for their enthusiasm and hard work in pulling all this together and giving villagers and visitors a great fun afternoon.
