This is an important issue, particularly for those living near the pub.

WESSEX Cancer Trust garden fete: Each year, the Basingstoke Group of the Wessex Cancer Trust holds a garden fete in aid of the trust's projects.

This year's fete will be on Saturday, August 6, at 62 Reading Road, Chineham (near the A33 end of Thornhill Way).

The event will start at 1.30pm, and there will be lots in store including games, all kinds of sales stalls and refreshments.

By attending, you will be able to not only enjoy a pleasant afternoon but also support the Wessex Cancer Trust.

The Basingstoke group of the trust raises money and has helped fund many projects at Basingstoke hospital - the most recent being the new oncology and haematology ward.

CHRIST Church, Reading Road: During the summer holidays, the church's regular groups for children and young people take a break. Instead, however, there is "Fun in the Son" on Sundays at 10.30am.
