ANDOVER'S very own budgies are back - in a revamped aviary in Vigo Road.

While the work was undertaken the 40 budgerigars, cockatiels and peach faced lovebirds enjoyed temporary accommodation provided by the Andover Caged Bird Society.

The aviary, originally built as a bandstand in the 1930s, is now decorated with designs created by pupils of Grateley House School, a residential school for young people from 11 to 16 who have Asperger Syndrome and associated conditions.

Test Valley Borough Council commissioned the Colour Factory to lead on the project which has involved a series of art workshops at the school to generate ideas and designs.

The artists from the Colour Factory shared their expertise with the students who produced a substantial number of original and individual drawings.
