SOUTHAMPTON grandmother Patricia Pearman has scooped the £1,700 runner-up prize in the Daily Echo's Find the Ball competition.

The retired shop worker, who has lived in the city all her life, is no stranger to the game as she has been playing it for years.

"It's something I like to do on a Sunday while getting lunch ready,'' she said.

Patricia, of Richville Road, Shirley, has two children and two grandchildren.

She and husband Frederick, pictured right, have just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.

Surprised and overjoyed to have won the cash, the couple now plan to use the money on their forthcoming holiday to Majorca.

"It's great to have won," she said. "I've been playing it for years and you just have to keep on playing it until you win."

Don't miss tomorrow's Daily Echo for your chance of winning the jackpot prize, which this week stands at £26,000, with the runner up prize of £1,800.
