IN MAY, some of us travelled to Glasgow for our national AGM. It's a sociable event, as the Ladies Circle runs its trip at the same time.

But there's a serious side, too. For example, presentations were given by the Round Tables of Sri Lanka and India, where Round Table has a long history of building schools.

Since January, an amazing effort has been made to rebuild schools lost in the tsunami disaster. We are pleased that funds raised by Round Tables in the UK were used directly to build several schools.

On the entertainment side, we recently had our area Human Table Football competition.

Instead of plastic men on rods, this uses the real thing - velcro-strapped to metal poles. Fortunately, there were no handles to spin us round. We didn't get past the quarter-finals but we enjoyed a few good games.

The next major event is a stand at Balloons over Basingstoke, with our new LaserShot shooting game. With a large projection screen for targets and realistic rifles, we're expecting it to be a big attraction.

The game will also be available for hire by companies and other organisations, so please contact us if you're interested.

As always, we welcome new faces. There's no invitation needed - just call Ian Kent on 07801 714 226 to find out what's coming up.
