Citroen's elegant new flagship C6 model will glide onto the UK's roads early next year.

The new C6 is designed to build on Citroen's long and illustrious heritage of creating large, stylish, executive cars, as exemplified by the legendary DS, CX, Light 15 and original 1920s C6.

At the same time, Citroen's newest model looks to the future by incorporating cutting-edge features and technologies, some of it unavailable on any other car in Europe, regardless of price.

A head-up display, active bonnet, hydropneumatic suspension with electronically-controlled springing and damping, speed-sensitive air deflector and laminated side windows are all expected to be standard on most models.

Citroen has revealed there will be three trim levels in the UK - C6, C6 Lignage and C6 Exclusive - available with a choice of two Euro IV engines: a 215hp 3.0 litre V6 petrol powerplant or a new Twin Turbo 2.7 litre V6 HDi diesel unit. Both will be mated to automatic six-speed gearboxes.

Approximately £29,500 should give drivers access to the C6, with prices for the New C6 Lignage, named after the original concept car, starting at about £31,500.

The range-topping New C6 Exclusive is expected to cost up to £38,000 for the diesel model.
