SHIRLEY SAC. A good variety of species were recorded during a shallow boat competition which included flounders, dogfish, plaice, mackerel smoothhound, scad, black bream and mullet.

The day's heaviest fish was a 4lb smoothhound recorded by Richard Patterson who was celebrating his 50th birthday.

Mike Teague won with five fish weighing 6lb 15oz to beat Mick Winstanley 5lb 12oz, Jim Merritt 5lb 6oz, Richard Patterson 4lb 9oz and Carol Groves 3lb 12oz.

The club's next shore match will be at Avon Beach on September 3.

LYMINGTON & DISTRICT SFC. Scad, black bream, pout, pollack and sole supplied limited action during a shingle bank league fixture at Milford, where Malcolm Stote won with seven fish weighing 4lb 6.5oz.

Chris Ellis wasrunner-up with 3lb 1.75oz ahead of Adrian Smith 3lb 8oz, Paul Dibden 1lb 10oz.25oz and Rod Thomas with 1lb 1oz. The nights heaviest fish was a 1lb 3oz sole bagged by Adrian Smith.

ELMORE SAC. A new club record thick-lipped mullet was the highlight during the club's latest roving shore competition. Martyn Thorne caught the specimen weighing 5lb 8oz along with a smaller mullet to give him a clear victory with 6lb 15.75oz.

Cary Turnbull came second with a 2lb 3oz bass ahead of Penny Bennett with a 3. 25oz silver eel.

ASHLETT AC. A roving shore competition provided some pretty good sport with Ralph Pitman winning with an 8lb 10.5oz bag of wrasse, dogfish, pouting and poor cod.

Maurice Young came second with a bass, a dogfish and a brace of flounders weighing 4lb 12.5oz to beat Dennis Willingham (4lb 10.5oz) and Mark Cooper, whose 4lb 9.75oz haul included the night's heaviest fish - a 4lb bass.
