A £4.9MILLION replacement maths and technology block has been approved for Costello Technology College in Basingstoke.
Hampshire County Council leader Cllr Ken Thornber gave the thumbs-up to the scheme last Thursday.
The new three-storey block will replace the buildings destroyed by a fire in 2003. It has been designed to fit in with existing buildings, but to be as compact as possible.
Work will begin on the project at the end of this year.
Cllr Thornber said: "It is a shame that due to a fire in 2003 the school has had to use temporary classrooms. The extension will enable their removal, which is a high priority for the county council."
