RUPERT LOWE told Saints fans last night that there IS money available to spend on new players when the transfer window re-opens in January. But the Saints chairman refused to tell a meeting of around 40 fans from various supporters' clubs just how much cash would be freed up for Harry Redknapp to bring in fresh blood. Lowe and Redknapp were talking in the Terry Paine Suite at St Mary's for the first supporters' club forum since Saints were relegated. Director Andrew Cowen, secretary Liz Coley and Tim Manns, from the Saint radio station, were also on the top table. Those who attended reported Lowe as looking "relaxed" despite the strain of his successful High Court libel case against The Times. The biggest revelation was that Lowe had personally visited Peter Crouch's house just before the striker joined Liverpool for £7m in July to ask him to stay at St Mary's. Redknapp claimed the England international, who hasn't scored for his new club in 11 league and cup matches, was looking short on confidence - and quipped that he would love him back in a Saints shirt on loan!
