Sir.-To the wonderful people of Basingstoke for supporting this year's Mayor's Charity Firework Fiesta at the War Memorial Park on November 5, a tremendous thank you for the record turnout.

Our sincere gratitude to the following groups of volunteers on the night - Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club, Basingstoke Loddon Rotary Club, Basingstoke Concert Band, Basingstoke Sea Cadets, St John Ambulance and all helpers and ground crew from the supporters of ICE.
Finally, a huge thank you to mayoral administrator Margaret Payne, with whom I have worked since the very first firework display. We all wish her the very best of everything in her retirement and our grateful thanks for her hard work over the years.
