HAMPSHIRE cheerleaders are celebrating after winning a clutch of awards in a national competition.

Now members of Team Phoenix are hoping to repeat their success at the World Championships in the USA next April.

The girls, aged between nine and 16, won three

trophies at the British Cheerleading Association Southern Classics at Wembly Arena.

Members representing three age groups took home trophies for third, second and seventh places.

Now the girls are preparing to take part in the World Cheerleading Champion-ships in Orlando, Florida.

However, a question mark hangs over their future in the competition unless they can raise the £38,000 needed to cover flights, accommodation costs and entry fees for the four-day tournament, starting on April 13.

The 80 girls, who train at Redbridge Community School, have so far raised £3,000 towards the trip.
