BBC South Today's presenter Sally Taylor has been presented with the MBE for services to regional television.
Sally, who joined BBC South 15 years ago, went to Buckingham Palace to collect her award, presented by Prince Charles.
It was a family occasion as she took along her partner, sister, father and step-mother to enjoy the occasion too.
Sporting a Diane von Furstenburg suit and a black Philip Treacy hat, Sally said the experience was wonderful.
"It's just a fabulous day. I feel very honoured and very privileged to receive the MBE and to come to Buckingham Palace, with all my family with me," she said.
Sally, who lives near Winchester, started her career in the mid-eighties with BBC South West before moving to South Today.
Six years ago Sally was treated for breast cancer and made a documentary about her experience after undergoing a double mastectomy.
The presenter, who fronts the annual BBC Children in Need appeal in the region, is heavily involved in supporting a number of local charities and has become the new patron of the Southampton-based HIV charity, the Charlotte Jackson Trust.
