Loco go wild in 'railway derby'

AFC LOCO Engineers locked horns with Micheldever Station in a Sunday Division 1 'railway derby' last weekend, and it was Loco whose fire burned hotter!

The Eastleigh-based hosts won 5-2 thanks to goals from Steve Peadon (2), Alan French (2) and Steve Gooch.

Station responded with one goal from top scorer Pete Hall and a season's first by Mark Simpson, who netted with an excellent late free-kick. Both teams deserve credit for a sporting contest.

John Keens, Mike Radford and Kevin Spell gave Old Coach House a 3-1 win over Winchester Trident, whose reply came from Tom Lane.

New Clock Inn lost 6-5 to Alresford Town despite strikes from Mark Burford, Aaron Leavers (2), Dan Shepherd and Dan Slack.

Granley Rovers came out 8-1 winners over Winchester Trident Reserves with Ian Durman grabbing a hat-trick. Luke Broadway (2), Sam Dalton, Neil Christopher and Mark Christopher also found the back of the net. Trident replied through Gary Short.

Saturday Div 1

Ropley led Eastleigh Town 3-0 at half-time, and good keeping by Eastleigh's Mark Kay was the order of the day despite the final 9-0 scoreline. Ropley's marksmen were Mark Padwick (3), Dave Tutt (2), James Chuter (2), James Ingle and Kevin Wilson.

Rising Sun beat Winchester City B 4-1. Riser took the lead when Karl Macklin's centre curled over City keeper Dan Platt, and following a Dave Coombs equaliser, the Riser got three more goals.
