PUPILS at Fair Oak Infant School are missing some much-loved toys after thieves broke into a shed in a playground at the back of the Botley Road school.

Police said that the burglars took a two-seater tricycle, a single-seater trike and a scooter, worth nearly £500, after forcing the shed open.

Deputy head teacher David Peart told the Daily Echo: "The children were very disappointed when they found that they were not there. They were used on a daily basis by our youngest children in school - it is part of their outdoor play activities."

He said that the equipment - donated to the school by its parent staff association - was quite expensive but had been purposely chosen because of its regular use.

A police spokesman said that the raid happened sometime over the weekend and added that the stolen trikes and scooter had 'Fair Oak Infant School' marked on them.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have spotted the toys, or anyone who has information about the theft, to contact Eastleigh police station on 0845 045 4545.
