NEIL Cassar has been appointed the new chief executive of the Hampshire FA.

Cassar, below, replaces Laurence Jones, who held the post for over five years before becoming chief executive at AFC Bournemouth last month.

Cassar, who has been Football Operations Manager at the Southampton-based Hampshire FA for the last five years, officially starts his new role on April 1.

Cassar said: "I am very honoured to be given the opportunity to lead such a prestigious and well regarded organisation.

"These are exciting times for the Hampshire FA with many initiatives and activities planned to increase participation, raise standards and provide football for all."
