NEW pedestrian crossings in Horton Heath have been given the go-ahead by Hampshire County Council.
The £98,000 move will benefit students at Wyvern College and Fair Oak Infant and Junior schools as they cross the busy junction of Botley Road with Burnetts Lane and Knowle Lane.
The crossing will stop traffic on all four approaches to the junction, allowing pedestrians to cross any of the roads.
Sensors will detect people walking across the road and extending the all-red period accordingly.
Executive member for environment, Councillor Tim Knight, said: "The main road is a commuter link but any additional delay here won't significantly affect journey times."
