DAVID McGoldrick maintained his superb scoring streak as Saints reserves won 2-0 at Coventry last night.

The 18-year-old striker hammered out another 'don't forget me' message to George Burley as he took his seasonal tally to 37 at Rugby FC.

McGoldrick is still waiting for his Saints league debut - despite scoring more goals this season than Saints have managed in the Championship!

The former Notts County youngster sealed Saints' win last night in the second half after Adam Lallana had put him through, beating keeper Clayton Ince with ease.

Feliciano Condessa had headed in a free-kick to open the scoring 10 minutes earlier.

McGoldrick, along with fellow reserve regular Simon Gillett, are the only two Saints players with a first team squad number who are still waiting for their league debuts at the club.

Gillett came on as a sub in the FA Cup win at Leicester in January while McGoldrick's only competitive appearance for Saints came as a sub in the Carling Cup debacle at Mansfield last September.

McGoldrick made his debut for Notts when he was just 16, and had a seven-game loan spell back at Meadow Lane earlier this season - when in contrast to his Saints form in 2005/06 he failed to score.

Reserve boss Stewart Henderson declared himself "delighted" with his young side's performance.

"We were up against a strong team but we outplayed them," he said.

"The nice thing was that apart from the keeper (Zac Jones) who is on loan and still only 17, all our players had come through the ranks.

"It was not just the win but the manner of it which pleased me. There were a lot of good individual performances.

"Simon Gillett again shone in midfield, Lloyd James did well out of position at centre-back and Jake Thomson was solid at left-back.

"Nathan Dyer was bright and bubbly up front against some experienced defenders. He and David McGoldrick gave them an uncomfortable time."

Utility player Eddie Anaclet, meanwhile, turned in a fine performance at right-back and is today set to join Yeovil on loan.

Anaclet, whose contract at Saints is up in the summer, had a spell on loan at Conference strugglers Tamworth earlier this season.

l Saints on-loan goalkeeper Zac Jones has been called up to the England Under-18 squad to play Slovenia in Bournemouth next month.

The 17-year-old, on loan from Blackburn until the end of the season, helped Saints to the FA Youth Cup semi-final.

Lancashire lad Jones has also turned out for Stewart Henderson's reserve team and could be joined on international duty by Adam Lallana, who has been placed on England's stand-by list.

The match is at the Fitness First Stadium on April 17, (3pm). Tickets priced £3 in advance are available on 08700 340 380.
