RESIDENTS in Test Valley and Ludgershall are bracing themselves for the impact of a strike by local government workers on Tuesday over Government pension plans.
Ludgershall residents could be hardest hit with Kennet District Council saying it will not be able to collect refuse and recyclables on that day. To keep disruption to a minimum the council is asking residents to store their rubbish until Tuesday, 4 April when the refuse will be collected and black 'recycling' boxes on 11 April.
The strike will only impact on residents whose normal refuse or black box collection day is a Tuesday - so Tidworth, the Chutes and Collingbournes will not be affected.
Cllr Peter Evans, Kennet's Environment spokesman, said: "We sincerely apologise for this disruption and I would like to thank residents for their help and understanding in this matter."
Meanwhile, Test Valley chief executive Roger Tetstall said: "It is difficult to evaluate the impact of any strike action at this stage."
