A FIRM based in Upper Clatford has developed a product which could resolve an age-old problem - children's undone shoelaces.

The shoelace locker was designed by mother and teaching assistant Supen Taylor and uses a spring-loaded clip to hold the lace tight, with a second fastener to keep the bow in place.

Light all good inventions it's a simple idea.

"I found a toggle from my son's coat on the floor, on closer examination I realised that the device could have a wider use," said Mrs Taylor.

"It has huge safety and time-saving benefits and it is simple to use for parents and teachers."

Now Mrs Taylor has patented the idea and teamed up with the Clatford firm Simply Stuck, a company that specialises in products for school children including stickers and labels.

It has been showing the product to retailers through its links in the education world and at educational shows.

"The feedback so far has been extremely positive," said Simply Stuck director Jo Hutchinson.
