The Romsey School Year 7 Netball team hosted the third U12 Netball Tournament at The Romsey School this week and nearly took home the Cup.

Sixteen teams from fourteen different schools across the area played in a series of pool matches before entering the knockout stage. The host team made it through to the last eight, where they beat Applemoor College 4-0.

The semi-final against St Anne's was another fine match, and Romsey went through to play against a strong team from Thornden School. The final was a closely fought contest but resulted in a win for the girls from Thornden, who took the Cup back to Chandler's Ford.

The tournament was organised by Mrs Easton with help from Year 11 girls Alex Hagger, Alice Pottle, Katie Bowles and Fran Hughes.

There was plenty of support from parents on the touchlines and Mrs Easton said: "I was really impressed with the excellent standard of play despite the freezing cold and strong winds."

The Romsey School was represented by Emily Digweed, Abbie Osmond, Millie Pottle, Charlotte Hitchcock, Chloe Dorrington, Jessica Smith, Geena Hancock, Rachel Smart, Vicky Sadler and Katie Miles.
