Eastleigh are eyeing a top five Nationwide Conference South finish after cancelling out a half-time deficit to beat Lewes 2-1 at the fantastically-named Dripping Pan.

But they will have to win their final match at home to play-off hopefuls Havant &next Saturday if they are to achieve their goal.

"To finish in the top five would be a fantastic achievement," enthused manager Paul Doswell. "It will certainly add spice to the Havant game and let's not forget they may need to win to establish themselves in the play-offs."

Eastleigh know they can't qualify for the play-offs themselves, even if they do finish in the top five, due to their ground facilities.

But the win at Lewes - achieved on the strength of second half goals by Richard Hodgson and Rob Marshall - has made that possible.

Eastleigh turned round in arrears through Roscoe D'Sane's strike three minutes before the break.

Goalkeeper Wayne Shaw, pictured, had pulled off several fine first half saves.

But after the break he was able to celebrate as first Hodgson beat the Lewes offside trap to equalise from Dave Town's deft ball over the top of the defence.

And then, four minutes from the end of a protracted second half, Marshall produced a towering far post leap to steer home Hodgson's free-kick.

l Havant's play-off hopes are dangling by a thread after a 1-0 home defeat by runners-up St Albans City.

The result left Hawks in fifth spot and needing to win their last two matches at Cambridge City tomorrow and Eastleigh to qualify.

A goalkeeping error by Gareth Howells gifted St Albans the points.

Howells raced out of his area but, in trying to shield the ball behind for a goal kick, lost possession to Paul Hakim, who crossed low for Lee Clarke to fire into an empty net.

Howells failed to reappear for the second half and was replaced by Tom Taylor.
