AFTER all the trials of last season, the Verwood-based Worx Crescent Suzuki team has got off to a storming start to lead the British Superbikes (BSB) championship.
After just missing out on pole position, Crescent’s Tommy Hill rode to victory in the first race of the year at Brands Hatch.
He beat returning World Superbike racer Ryuichi Kiyonari by 0.72sec on the HM Plant Honda, with James Ellison third on the Swan Honda.
Alastair Seeley was fourth on the Relentless Suzuki while Bournemouth’s Josh Brookes was fifth on another Honda and Hill’s teammate Kuyio Kagayama 12th on the other Suzuki.
In the second 30-lap race both Kagayama and Brookes went out on the tenth lap.
But at the front while it was Ellison who took the chequered flag, Hill – pipped by less than two-tenths of a second – now leads the championship. Seeley was third.
Bournemouth Kawasaki riders Luke Stapleford (Superstock 600) got a ninth and James Hillier (Superstock 1000) 15th.
