ACTOR Geoffrey Hughes exclusively reveals in today’s Daily Echo why he turned down the chance to return to Coronation Street as the iconic Eddie Yates.
The 66-year-old says his love for the Isle of Wight – where he has lived for the last nine years – prevented him from returning to those famous cobbles.
Instead he prefers to devote his time to working as a full-time forester providing wood fuel eco-heating for HMP Isle of Wight.
“Living on the Island I am totally content: I’m very, very happy here,” he said.
