Ed Balls
ED Balls has announced he is standing in the Labour leadership contest.
The former schools secretary has thrown his hat into the ring to replace Gordon Brown who stepped down last week.
Mr Balls, 43, was one of the closest allies of the former Primer Minister.
Yesterday, Southampton Test MP Alan Whitehead revealed he was backing Ed Milliband's leadership bid.
John Denham, MP for Southampton Itchen has yet to announce who he shall back.
