A DRIVER has suffered serious injuries after his van rolled on top of him when he fell out of vehicle in an accident on a Hampshire motorway.

The man was heading off the eastbound stretch of the M27 at junction two, for Ower, when the van struck the offside crash barrier at the end of the slip road.

The van then continued on to the roundabout where the driver fell out the cab before the vehicle rolled over on top of him.

A police spokesman said: “Somehow the driver has fallen out of the driver’s door and as the vehicle has rolled over to come to a stop on its offside it had trapped the driver under the vehicle.

“The male driver was released by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services and was taken to Southampton General Hospital.”

The crash happened just after 1pm today and police closed the motorway junction for more than three hours.

No other vehicles or drivers are thought to be involved in the incident.
