THE National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, this weekend staging its International Autojumble, is in the top ten of bikers’ favourite destinations.

After a frantic month of entries, Devitt Insurance Services has announced the finalists in its search for Britain’s best biking destinations, as voted for by the biking community.

It just seems a little surprising that Beaulieu pipped our local favourite biker rendezvous – Loomies off the A272 at West Meon Hut and at Alton station, as well as the mega meets at Poole Quay, Launched in partnership with MCN, Devitt’s competition to find the best biking spot is hotting up. Voting closes on Friday, and Devitt is calling on all bikers to have their say on our Best Biking spot.

“We received hundreds of entries, which have been whittled down to just ten finalists and now it’s time for bikers to vote for the winner,” says William Hughes, managing director of Devitt Insurance Services.

“They can simply register on keep britainbiking.com and vote for their favourite destination on the biking gallery. With the help of the biking community, we want to identify the best biking spot in the UK.

“Since launching the competition, we’ve had hundreds of tips come through, demonstrating Britain’s bikers’ intimate knowledge of the best routes and hidden gems across the country. Now we have narrowed these down to a final ten, we’re asking bikers to get voting to ensure their favourite wins the vote!”

The finalists as defined by Devitt’s:

  • BEAULIEU MUSEUM
    Museum, cafe, 007 attractions. Check their website for the motorcycle muster ride around June. A good day out for bikers and their families.
  • THE PITSTOP DINER, TEESSIDE
    Biker-friendly cafe and regular meet spot for the Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group and the Teesside Bikers.
  • BRAY HILL, ISLE OF MAN
    If you love bikes and watching edge-of-the-hedge road racing, this is a must-go-to place!
  • GREAT BENTLEY MOTORCYCLE MEET, ESSEX
    Huge green to park on, good pub and food stands. Easy to reach, but watch those twisty lanes.
  • MOFFAT VILLAGE, SCOTLAND
    A number of biker-friendly businesses and seems to have opened its arms to bikers. Special mention to The Buccleuch Arms Hotel. Moffat-Selkirk Road has been coined as one of the top ten most scenic routes in Britain!
  • A689 PENRITH-STANHOPE ROAD, CUMBRIA
    Nice little A-road, not too tricky and with some great twisties and views over the Pennines. Cruise it first for the views then work out the bends before picking the speed up a bit.
  • THE ROSE PUB, FULHAM
    First Thursday of each month. Chelsea and Fulham HOG, Meridian HOG and the Harley-Davidson Riders Club of Great Britain all meet up here.
  • BRIDGE GARAGE, EXETER
    One of the best bike shops in the west country. Triumph, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha specialists. Great kit and bits.
  • PAPA ROCKS CAFE, AVIEMORE
    Biker-friendly restaurant. Amazing food and top-class friendly service. Run by biker family. Has own car park.
  • HIRWAUN-STORY ARMS ROAD, PEN Y FAN, BRECON
    Not many roads can compare to the routes around the valleys and mountains of the Brecon Beacons national park and the Rhondda valley.
