IT is the uniform that makes millions go hot under the collar.

Now a Hampshire fire crew have given residents a reason to be merry this Christmas after making a fundraising calendar. Twelve firefighters from Romsey fire station, with almost 100 years of service between them, have pulled on their uniforms for the 2011 treat set to make thousands for charities. The crew made up of 11 men and one woman have swapped saucy shots and naked torsos for classy clothed snaps and handy advice so it can sell to offices and schools. Each month features a small fire safety message.

The Romsey community project will raise cash for The Firefighters Charity and Wessex Cancer Trust. It was the brainchild of photographer Kate Jackson, who has photographed weddings for a decade, and firefighter Andy Needham. Kate pledged to get involved with a charity photograph project and the Alma Road station wanted to raise their profile and cash for Hampshire causes.

Kate said: “I would have liked to have done the hunky David Beckham thing but hey, this is Romsey, this is the real world. Unclothed would not be appropriate for Romsey.”

The £10 calendar is available at Judy Webb’s, Bishops Blaize pub and Aroma in the town, as well as from Kate at katejacksonphoto.co.uk.
