A SOUTHAMPTON man described as “exploitative” and “manipulative” has been locked up for a minimum of three years after sexually humiliating a woman.

Judge Gary Burrell branded Anthony Graham, 50, as a significant danger to the public.

Graham had keys to his victim’s flat and laid in wait for her so she could repay a loan.

As she opened the door, a neighbour saw him drag her inside and then heard screaming.

Incensed that she was wearing a top he had given to another woman, he grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the floor, and pulled down one leg of her trousers before assaulting her.

As the woman repeatedly pleaded “Don’t hurt me, don’t cut me,” the neighbour phoned police, but by the time they reached the flat Graham had left. He was later arrested.

Graham, of Barnes Close, Thornhill, Southampton, was convicted at the city crown court of false imprisonment and sexual assault.

Jurors heard the victim was so terrified of him she refused to come to court to give evidence.

Graham, who denied the charges, had been convicted in 2004 of assaulting the woman when he headbutted and punched her outside her flat.

He also had a conviction for causing grievous bodily harm with intent to another woman who was left unconscious and suffering from a suspected brain injury from a headbutt.

Passing sentence, the judge said he agreed with a probation officer’s assessment that Graham was “manipulative” and “exploitative” towards women.

“You have problems controlling your temper but what is of major concern is your lack of empathy and remorse.”
