DETECTIVES last night returned to key locations in the Jo Yeates murder inquiry in the hope of tracing vital witnesses to her killing.

Police targeted three places where they hoped to jog people’s memories of what happened on the night the landscape architect vanished.

Jo’s body was found on Christmas Day eight days after she disappeared following a night out with friends.

She had last been seen alive in The Ram pub in Bristol, not far from her home in the Clifton area of the city, where detectives were last night speaking to customers.

The 25-year-old former Hampshire schoolgirl, whose parents live in Ampfield, near Romsey, then walked home to her flat in Canynge Road where she is known to have gone into her home.

Officers were in the road between 8pm and 10pm last night hoping to speak to people who regularly use the route, including drivers whose routine takes them along that road.

At the same time, another team of police were three miles away in Longwood Lane, where Jo’s body was found covered in snow on Christmas morning. They were stopping motorists in the hope of identifying witnesses who could help with the inquiry.

The action came as national newspaper The Sun put up a £50,000 reward to find whoever murdered Jo.

Det Chief Insp Phil Jones said it was hoped the highprofile activity would jog people’s memories and prompt more members of the public to contact police.

He said: “Were you in Bristol on the night of Jo’s disappearance? You may have a valuable piece of information which could help.

“You may think that something you may have seen or heard is insignificant but let us make that decision. We continue to work tirelessly to catch and bring to justice whoever killed Jo and thank the public for the response we have already received.”
