TEST Valley Borough Council is going spare over illegal tyre dumping.

Tyres have been dumped at Green Lane, Ridge Lane, Misslebrook Lane on the outskirts of Romsey and Nursling Industrial Estate.

The council’s environmental team would like to hear from anyone who or knows of any local businesses which may have recently disposed of a large quantity of tyres.

The council’s environment Portfolio Holder, Councillor Peter Boulton said: “All of the locations are rural, but somebody could have seen something. The council is asking for help as fly-tipping is illegal, dangerous and expensive to clear up and we need to put a stop to it.”

Anyone with information should contact Environmental Services in confidence on 01264 368000. All reported fly-tipping incidents are followed up with a view to prosecution, say the council, with the maximum penalty currently £50,000 and/or imprisonment.
