EMERGENCY services flocked to a Southampton tower block tonight after fears of a high-rise fire.
Six fire engines from the city’s stations and police officers rushed to Albion Towers, at Golden Grove, in St Mary’s after an emergency call reported a fire had started in the high-rise block just before 7pm.
A chip pan fire had started in one of the tower’s flats but it was out when the emergency services arrived. No action was taken.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said that sending multiple firefighters was standard practice for high-rise incidents.
