A CYCLIST is fighting for his life after a car crashed into him moments after it was involved in another collision.

The 47-year-old man from Gosport was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are potentially life threatening after the crash yesterday, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Now police officers have appealed for more information about the two crashes that took place shortly after 2pm at Tukes Avenue, Bridgemary, in Gosport.

A Toyota Aygo and a Volkswagen Polo were involved in the first collision.

The Volkswagen then collided with a bike moments later.

The Volkswagen driver, a 71-year-old man from Gosport, and the Toyota driver, a 69-year-old man from Gosport, both suffered shock but were able to leave the scene of the crash later that afternoon.

Part of Tukes Avenue was closed until 5.15pm last night while a forensic team completed tests at the scene.

Investigating Officer PC Chris Powling, of Hampshire Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “The exact circumstances surrounding these collisions remain under investigation. We’d like to thank all those people who stayed at the scene on Saturday afternoon to assist officers with their enquiries.

“I’d like to appeal for anyone else who was in Tukes Avenue at around 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon to come forward if they saw the collision itself or if they saw the Toyota, Volkswagen, or cyclist moments before the collision.”

Anyone with information call Fratton police station on 101.
