Romsey’s Abbey United Reformed Church is celebrating its links with voluntary groups across the town during its Community Awareness events this weekend.

There will be a coffee morning today in the Abbey (URC) Hall between 10am and midday to raise money for the Romsey Family Support Group, which offers friendship and support to parents of pre-school children.

As well as refreshments there will be displays about a range of community activities.

The church is also making a collection of resources such as colourful paper, paints and pens for the Romsey Opportunity Group, which works with special needs children under five and their families.

Tomorrow there will be a service at 10.30am to give thanks for the life of the town and to pray for the work of volunteers and groups.

Representatives from many different community groups, together with civic representatives, will be attending the service, which will be led by the church’s minister, Rev Terry Hinks. The collection at this service will also go towards the work of Romsey Family Support Group
