TWO people escaped serious injury after the car they were travelling in veered off a major Hampshire road, crashing into a ditch.

The Mitsubishi L200 was seen going out of control on the A31 eastbound in the New Forest.

It was going down Castle Malwood Hill, just before the start of the M27 when it flipped onto its roof and landed down the embankment, at 8.45am.

Two people were in the car but were able to escape without serious injury, before police and firefighters arrived.

A woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital as a precaution.

Police later closed the inside lane temporarily while the car was recovered from the scene.
