Action from yesterday's match at St Mary's
A SAINTS fan collapsed and died just moments before his team clinched a vital victory against Carlisle United yesterday.
The 84-year-old was found on the floor in the toilets of the Kingsland Stand at St Mary’s Stadium minutes before the game began.
He was treated on scene by paramedics, before he was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3.30pm.
He had been at the match with his son.
Police had sealed off the scene to allow the man to be treated but they are not treating the death as suspicious.
It is believed he died of a heart attack.
