THE owners of a boarded-up city centre pub in Southampton are to bulldoze it for flats after failing to find a new tenant.
The Wellington Pub Company, which owns The Lord Palmerston, in Palmerston Road, plans to build a three-storey block of five flats in its place.
The pub was run by popular city landlord Steve Dockrell, 55, who died suddenly from meningitis two years ago.
His company, Dockrell Leisure Ltd, which also ran The Hobbit in Bevois Valley Road and Frog and Frigate in Canute Road, went bust last year.
The Wellington Pub Company, which owns 850 largely freehold pubs, took The Lord Palmerston off the market at the end of last year to review their options.

The frog & frigate is still closed. Such a shame, had some great nights there in the past. If they also pulled that down to make flats, I'd be really disappointed
