TWO men arrested on suspicion of being involved in a cashpoint scam sweeping Hampshire have been released on bail.
Police swooped near Southampton’s High Street just after 9.30am of Friday after a call from a member of the public who thought the pair were acting oddly.
The arrests came as the Daily Echo revealed details of a new trap being used to steal money from people using holein- the-wall machines across the county.
A crude plastic device, which appears to be part of the cashpoint, collects money being ejected leaving unsuspecting customers to think the machine is broken. The device is then later removed with the cash by thieves.
A 30-year-old man from Essex and a 33- year-old man from Southampton, who were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal, have been given police bail until August.
