A SIKH man had his turban stolen during a racial abuse incident in Southampton city centre.
The 29-year-old was at a bus stop outside the Civic Centre when five drunken white men approached. The yobs were shouting and swearing at people before making racial comments at the Sikh man.
He turned away trying to ignore them but one of them ran up behind him, pulled his turban off and ran off with it towards the Central train station.
Turbans are a key aspect of Sikh men’s identity because their religion requires them to wear their hair unshorn and covered at all times. The missing turban is described as white with black markings.
Any witnesses can call Southampton Central Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
