AN ELDERLY man is in hospital this morning suffering from serious burns after a gas explosion in his kitchen.
Firefighters were called to the home in Elson Road, Gosport, at 2.21am today, following the blast which blew out the windows of the man's home.
The property had to be evacuated for fears of structural damage and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance, for treatment on his burns.
Crews from Gosport fire station and a specialist equipment unit from Cosham spent two hours at the scene, but there was no fire.
