Summer Ice Skating returns to the BIC in July with The Rawk Ice Rink. The rink will be open from 16th July to 11th September and will mark the ninth consecutive summer in which the BIC has provided a seasonal rink.

The announcement follows press speculation as to whether the ice rink would return in the summer and Head of Venues Steve Piper said: “We have thought long and hard about the best combination of events and attractions to provide at the BIC this summer and, during the decision process, we were acutely aware of the strength of feeling from the people of Bournemouth and surrounding areas for us to once again offer ice skating facilities”.

The BIC have also invested in further equipment and, with prices frozen from the winter rink, Assistant Marketing Manager Tom Madge urged residents to make use of the facilities on offer: “We’ve taken customers’ views on board and the general feedback was that the rink would be missed were it not to be here this summer. Not only is the rink returning but we have also invested heavily in higher spec resurfacing equipment. We have made a commitment to back the rink and have opted to freeze prices from last winter. We look forward to a busy summer season on the ice”.

As well as freezing prices, an introductory offer of £3 off adult and under 16 prices (terms and conditions apply) on 9.30am sessions has been added – but hurry, the offer only applies to sessions in July.

The ice rink also has a new sponsor this summer, with Poole based online retailer Rawk taking on naming rights. “It is great to have a local business on board for this event and equally pleasing is Rawk’s relevance as an online retailer who stock ice skates among other items. There will undoubtedly be some associated benefits for both our customers and Rawk’s” added Tom.

It has also been confirmed that another BH Live facility, the Littledown Centre, will be hosting an outdoor roller rink during the school summer holidays. Full details are to be announced shortly.
