A CAMPAIGNER for fathers rights from Hampshire has started a hunger strike on the Prime Minister's doorstep.

Fathers 4 Justice founder Matt O'Connor began the strike outside the Oxfordshire home of David Cameron today.

The 44-year-old, from Andover, is demanding that Mr Cameron honours pre-election pledges made to the organisation about ensuring that grandparents have a right to see their grandchildren and for a legal assumption of shared parenting.

He also wants Mr Cameron, a father of three, to retract comments he made describing some dads as "runaways".

Mr O'Connor said he wants the Prime Minister to withdraw the comments that "demonise" fathers.

"The idea is to carry on for as long as I can - even if I am hospitalised," he said.

Mr O'Connor, who is supported by a team of medics, said his only intake would be water and some lemon juice.
