HUNDREDS of bikers are expected to converge on a Hampshire motorway on Sunday to protest against plans for new EU rules.
The motorcyclists will ride in convoy westbound from Rownhams Services on the M27 towards Ringwood, travelling at around 45mph on the inside lane for about 20 miles before dispersing.
The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) has organised the protest to highlight a proposed EU regulation that the group says will threaten the rights of owners to modify their machines and single out bikes for regular roadside checks.
MAG’s campaign manager Paddy Tyson said “What our congested roads need are more bikes, not increased legislation to discourage them.”
The ride mirrors 70 other similar events planned across the UK at the same time and will start at 1pm.
