A WOMAN who killed a Hampshire motorcyclist after she had been drinking, has had her attempt to appeal her sentence refused.

Wayne Moores, 28, died on the M4 when he was hit by Donna Hackett as he was riding home to Chandler's Ford from his job as a blacksmith in South Wales, last year.

She was found in a field after driving away from the scene and had been drinking prior to the incident on September 18, 2010.

In April, Hackett, 26, was sentenced to six years for death by careless driving when over the prescribed limit.

She sought to have the sentence reduced, but the Court of Appeal today refused the application.

Friends and relatives of Mr Moores, who was well known through his work as a barman at The Hobbit pub in Southampton, ran a petition against any possible early release for Hackett, which was signed by more than 5,000 people.
