Was it not JD who wrote to all residents at Ocean Village to oppose the future building of Appartments???????

I'm sure it was his name on that letter!

Then the building was scrapped and the place is left an eye sore! OH then the Builders went bust!

Maybe JD can shed some light?
Oh of course that's his PERSONAL responsibility isn't it.... the city council, recession, builders and bad planning had nothing to do with it lol!

I'm sorry to see you go John, you've done a fantastic job for your constituents, stood by your own values (Iraq) and yes one in the eye for all the very mischievous speculation from the Echo that you'd been sacked from the Shadow Cabinet. I did warn you (and all the other numpties that jumped on the bandwagon) that you'd all look silly ;)

Congratulations and good luck in your retirement.
He's not even your MP yet you say he's done a fantastic job? who for? money taken from southamptons Labour council to give to the poor ( joke) North & did that guy doing a fantastic job for us stand up & fight this city & his Labour colleagues corner? NO he didn't his constituency was being shafted by his Government his constituency was losing jobs at an alarming rate because of his parties total obedience to their European masters did he resign his position in government to move to the backbenches NO he didn't.did he do that for Iraq ? yes he did so if he cared for this city why didn't he stand up & fight for us?
£49 million pounds to Thornhill as part of the Labour NDC programme, plus SRB 2 and 6 money spent in Southampton again a Labour programme (money spent in Woolston, Weston St Mary's and Shirley, Millbrook) John Denham was instrumental in all three of those programmes gaining the funding to the regenerate the respective areas of Southampton.

Not bad I think for the people living in those areas.
Yes, same old suspects get all the money ,Swaythling, Shirley Warren and Merry Oak are always overlooked.
SRB 6 money went to Shirley Warren as part of the Outer Shirley Regeneration area.

The money has been spent it was granted over 10 years ago, time to get over it, a and e"

Denham to stand down as MP

John Denham John Denham

SOUTHAMPTON Itchen MP John Denham will stand down at the next election, it has been announced.

The next election is expected in 2015. The Southampton Itchen seat is an ultra-marginal, with a Labour majority of just 192 in the 2010 election.

''Although I shall be standing down at the next general election, I remain totally committed to serving the people of Southampton Itchen so long as I am their MP, as I have done since my first election in 1992,'' said Mr Denham.

He said had informed Mr Miliband of his decision to leave Parliament ''some months ago'' and was quitting the shadow cabinet in order to allow the leader to appoint someone who would be able to serve as a minister in a Labour government after the election.

In his letter to the Labour leader, he wrote: ''After 30 years continuous service as an elected councillor or MP, I think I should move on whilst I still have enthusiasm for the role.

''We both agree that you would need to bring someone into the shadow cabinet who would be able to serve as minister in the next government.

''It has been a huge honour to be on Labour's front bench in government and in opposition and I have particularly enjoyed working with you over the past year as you have developed a clear, relevant and necessary vision of the way forward for Britain and for the Labour Party.

''I'm delighted that you have asked me to continue to work closely with you as your PPS and playing a full part in Labour's work inside and outside Parliament.
