A POST-mortem on seven-year-old Blake Fowler has confirmed that the youngster died of head injuries.

Detectives revealed the results as they continued their investigation into the schoolboy’s shock death.

As reported by the Daily Echo, he died after sustaining the injuries at a home in the Lordshill area of the city.

Paramedics were called to an address in Cromarty Road on Saturday evening following reports that the youngster had suffered head injuries.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital but died the next day.

Police immediately launched an investigation and two men, aged 23 and 21, were arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Last night a Hampshire police spokesman said inquiries were continuing to establish the exact circumstances which led to Blake’s death.

Detectives are continuing to interviewfamily and friends in a bid to piece together what led to the fatal injuries.

A police spokesman said: “A post-mortem carried out on the child concluded he had died due to the effects of head injuries.”

An inquest into his death has not yet been opened.

Paying tribute to her son who she described as “her baby”, devastated mum Sarah Spacagna said the youngster would always be in her heart.

Tributes to the youngster were also paid by those who knew him, including friends at a boxing gym where Blake trained.

Describing him as a “natural sportsman”, Stuart Gill, head coach of Golden Ring ABC, said Blake was “a ray of sunshine” and was keen to take up the sport.

“He was a fantastic little boy and I’m absolutely devastated, as is everybody at the club,” he added.

Fellow pupils at Blake's former school are putting together their memories of the youngster for a scrapbook that will be presented to his family at a memorial service they plan to hold.
