A WOMAN has admitted killing her mother-in-law at the family home in Southampton.
Rajvinder Kaur pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied murder when she appeared at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday.
She entered the pleas via a Punjabi interpreter.
Prosecutors say that Kaur, 35, murdered Baljit Kaur Buttar on February 25 last year.
Her husband’s mother, known to her family and friends as “Bibi”, was in Southampton for five months visiting the UK from her native India.
Kaur was remanded in custody to face trial at Winchester Crown Court in July. Police were called to Kaur’s flat that she shared with her husband in Broadlands Road, Swaythling, Southampton, just after 11.30am on February 25. Mrs Buttar, aged 56, was found dead from head injuries.
The grandmother was staying with her son, his wife and their family on her visit to the UK. She was due to return home two days later.
Kaur, with her hair tied up and wearing a dark blue tracksuit jacket, spoke only to confirm her name and enter her plea.
The mother could be heard sobbing in the dock after entering her pleas.
