HAMPSHIRE charities got their hands on £3,000 of free cash during the festive period.
Groups from across the county benefitted from the Christmas Match Fund, which was run on website localgiving.com.
From December 14, any sums donated to charities via the site were automatically doubled, thanks to a £125,000 grant from the Office for the Civil Society.
The free money was dished out to charities across the UK within just one week, with 18 Hampshire groups including The Society of St James, Weston Church Youth Project and the Southampton Children’s Play Association all picking up a slice of the festive pot.
