FUNDRAISER Gus Mckechnie is on the verge of reaching a massive milestone in his marathon cycling mission in memory of his family.
The 37-year-old paralympic hopeful is close to reaching the halfway mark of his 50,000-mile cycle on a stationary bike, and has this week completed 24,901 miles.
Gus, who has a form of cerebral palsy, was inspired to embark on the cycle after the death of his brother Andy, who died from a genetic disorder, his father, who died months before him in 2003, and his mum, who died of ovarian cancer in 2007.
From the end of this month he will be doing the challenge at a number of tourist attractions.
