New Forest swingers club owners defiant over council shutdown order

Bosses of a sex club in the New Forest say it is “business as usual” despite a bid by council chiefs to shut it down.

JCT2 is at the centre of a row over claims it has breached planning rules by transforming a detached £500,000 country retreat into a sex den complete with dungeons, playrooms and a hot tub.

New Forest District Council has served the owner with an enforcement notice ordering that the club is closed and all equipment removed.

The move has been appealed by the owner who claims the property is simply a residential home where his tenants regularly hold swinger parties.

The story was reported in yesterday’s Daily Echo, after which a message was posted on the club website, saying: “I am sure many of you will have seen the article in the Daily Echo about the club. We can assure you that it is business as usual at JCT2.”

The move by the council came after years of complaints by neighbours living near the property on Salisbury Road in Calmore, just outside Totton.

Residents have objected to guests parking outside their homes and having to direct partygoers looking for the venue. They have gained the support of local MP Julian Lewis who wrote to the council urging them to take action over the activities at the property.

Today Mr Lewis welcomed the enforcement action by the council: “The New Forest is famous for many forms of recreational activity but this is one that adds nothing to its reputation.”

Mr Lewis, MP for New Forest East, said he had previously been in touch with the council about the club and was pleased action was now being taken.

Local councillors have added their support to the residents in their bid to see the club closed and have also written to the planning inspectorate who will make a decision on its future later in the year.

The district council claims the club breached planning rules by running a business from the address without applying for permission.

The JCT2 website sets out a list of guest “contributions” of up to £35 along with fees for hiring out the fully equipped dungeons, etiquette rules and a photographic tour of the playrooms and dancefloor with lap dancing poles.

The website also lists a string of social events, including fetish nights and events for Big Beautiful Women, that they say will go ahead despite the enforcement notice.

As long as they are not causing (unconcensual) harm to anyone, why try to shut them down? What people get up to in their own house is their business. Mr Lewis obviously isn't getting any and I would suggest his efforts would be better put into helping people deal with REAL neighbours from hell. They're not breaking any laws, not selling drugs, and not indulging in anti-social behaviour so leave them alone I say!

What are the events for Big Women? Could this be cake eating or London 2012 Shot and Discus try outs

Well, they'll be busier now after all the publicity the council has been giving them.

They are in a very sparsely populated area causing no harm to anyone. What they do is not my cup of tea but I say leave them alone.

This has been the most shared and most popular news on the Echo site so perhaps Sian Davies should take a visit and give us all an insiders view - if she can get parking of course.

I have been getting very excited about this place. However I have now been on the website. Whilst the photos of the dungeon and the free standing spanking pilory look interesting I was horrified at the pictures of some of their clientelle.

Most look to be complete munters who must have spent the last year locked inside their local Greggs. I presume that a lot of this 'aparatus' is stress tested as there could be a nasty accident.

Very disappointed.

Maybe that nice old lady who nicked all the money from Asda could do a community service stint there. Imagine she'd welcome an opportunity to try her hand at a different kind of fiddle.

Bosses? business as usual?

sorry I thought they said it wasn't a business??

Dont' care what they get up to, frankly it's about as interesting watching paint dry reading the people getting 'excited' by a 'sex den' in Calmore LOL! hardly the stuff of fantasy is it :p but as I pointed out do they have Public Liability Insurance, and all the other overheads that all other businesses have to pay? therein lies the problem...

I live a few doors up from an illegal brothel which is now closed down and it is annoying when you get loiterers hanging around your house checking out the venue.

Fag butts and beer cans being thrown on your lawn whilst they pluck up the courage etc.

I take no issue if they drive up and go straight inside and do whatever fantasy they want, but it does have an effect on neighbours.

Mr Pedant here... Is Calmore really in the New Forest?
NFDC, the New Forest Constituencies and the New Forest have staggeringly differing boundaries.
BUT there's no story about a sex club in Totton I suppose!
Also, anyone that thinks that sex does not occur in all its glorious forms within the New Forest may be kidding themselves a tad.

And to think I thought the most exciting thing about Totton was the Table Top sale at the Three Score Club, glad I moved here.

It will never close as most of the guests are local Politicians and Councillors. I heard that MacDonald's weren't interested in the plot of land but FurBurger King would love to get in there.

"Residents have objected to guests parking outside their homes and having to direct partygoers looking for the venue"

I know this story seems to have died down, but I would like to know how many residents have supposedly complained and how many homes have found customers parked outside?

Why do I ask? Well, living in the Totton and Calmore area I was intriqued as to where the swingers club actually was. I've located it on the A36 between Calmore and Ower, opposite the slip road to/from the A326 (southbound).

But it appears there are no immediate neighbours or properties (confirmed by Google maps) and it looks like the property has an extensive private parking area.

I can't help wondering if someone at NFDC didn't have the swinging party experience s/he expected and is now trying to get the activities closed down simply because s/he didn't get what s/he wanted!

Just a thought ...
