DETECTIVES investigating a shooting in Southampton have arrested two more people in connection with the attack – including a 15-year-old boy.

The teenager was detained by Hampshire police’s Major Investigation Team this morning in Southampton, while a 25-year-old man from London was also arrested outside of Hampshire.

Both are now to be questioned by detectives over a shooting on Sunday that left a 27-year-old man in hospital.

It comes as a 40-strong team has now swooped on six different addresses as part of the investigation – five in Southampton and one outside of Hampshire.

Today’s operation brings the total number of people arrested in connection with the incident in Vanguard Road, Townhill Park, to three.

A 25-year-old Southampton man who was detained within two-and-a-half hours of the 7.15pm shooting on suspicion of attempted murder has now been released on police bail until tomorrow.

The injured man, who was shot in the leg, has since undergone surgery for his injuries at Southampton General Hospital.

He is still in hospital but his injuries are not life threatening.

The 15-year-old was arrested this morning for being in possession of a Section 1 firearm.

The 25-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He will now be brought to Hampshire where detectives will question him about the shooting. Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to call Hampshire police on 101, quoting Operation Saddlewood, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
